Mission Statement
By working together as a team, we strive to be the heart of the Village, where residents and friends can gather, socialize, and just enjoy the nature and tranquility of the beauty and cleanliness of our Park, and create lasting memories.
Overview of District Services
We are the Forest View Park District, located directly across the street from the Village offices of Forest View, Illinois. Although we are a separate entity from the Village, we work closely with the Board of Trustees to provide a beautiful park to be enjoyed by all. We offer a variety of classes to meet all needs and age groups. We collaborate with the Fire and Police Department to host events that allow the residents to get to know their First Responders. We maintain beautiful tennis, pickleball, and volleyball courts to keep up with the love of these sports, along with the playground and sandbox, to encourage fun and play; and we work hard to maintain the park itself and the natural beauty of nature.
Projects
Our Park Board has been working hard to complete recent projects and additions to our beautiful Park. We recently upgraded our lighting system throughout the park by adding nineteen new, brighter, but softer lights in our posts. We purchased new Gliders to create a new “sitting area” in the park near our Little Library. We have also updated our flowers and landscaping to add even more beauty throughout our greenery.
For your safety, the Board recently purchased new security cameras to offer a little safety, just in case. We also brought back the use of Park Monitors, which is a bit of a luxury that we can offer as a small Village. The monitors are there to be the eyes and ears of safety at the Park, to ensure everyone can enjoy the Park at any age, and all that it offers. They also allow us to offer fun incentives, like handing out raffle tickets to those that are “Caught Being Kind”, where someone is going above and beyond to follow the posted park rules, or show extra kindness by picking up trash or offering a hand. These individuals will get a raffle ticket and have a chance to win a prize at the end of the month. Just another extra perk to share a smile.
Our Maintenance Department works hard to keep our Park at it’s BEST. From cutting the grass, maintaining the ball field and park area, to cleaning our bathrooms, they work to make sure everything is perfect for when anyone is here enjoying our Park. We take pride in the beauty and cleanliness of our Park, and our maintenance staff works hard to live up to this.
Our Recreation Department keeps a busy schedule of events for all ages. We offer activities and classes, like monthly Senior Coffee, monthly Bunco, Art and Craft classes, Bingos, game nights, Walking Club and Exercise Programs, and a variety of other events for kids, seniors, and families.
We also offer some bigger activities throughout the year, like our annual Easter Egg Hunt. We team up with local Charity organizations, like the Stickney-Forest View Lions Club to offer our Christmas Party and Candy Cane Hunt in the Park to kick off the Christmas season, and our Diabetes Fun Walk to raise money for an important cause.
One of our newest additions this year was our “Kindness Rocks” Garden, which offers visitors a chance to take a rock for inspiration and leave a rock for motivation. This allows us to offer Rock Painting events where all ages can gather and paint rocks to add to our growing garden.
The Forest View Park District Board and Staff take pride in our beautiful park and active park district. We all work hard and work together to keep our park clean, beautiful and fun. We strive to be the BEST park around with everything we have to offer for fun and activities. After all, this is “Our Happy Place”!, and we are dedicated to help create lasting memories!
